⭐ Famous Alumni of Key West High — Did You Know These Local Legends?

Hey Reader,

It’s Throwback Tuesday, and today we’re doing something a little different—we’re turning the spotlight on the people who went through Key West High School and then went on to leave their mark. 📚✨

👉 Check out the full post here for all the stories and surprises.

A Few Alumni I Love (And Bet You’ll Love, Too)

  • Scott Saunders — A 4th‑generation Conch who founded Saunders & Company CPA, then purchased Fury Water Adventures and turned it into Florida’s largest water adventure company.
  • Mario Sanchez — A folk artist who captured everyday island life in sketches and carvings. His work is now featured in major art collections.
  • Arandrick “Ran” Carthon — He played football at Key West High, went on to the University of Florida, and ended up as GM of the Tennessee Titans.
  • Khalil Greene, Vic Albury, Carl Taylor, Boog Powell — Athletes whose paths led them from Key West to major league baseball.
  • Notable Conchs & Key West Residents — Ernest Hemingway, Jimmy Buffett, Tennessee Williams, Shel Silverstein, Judy Blume, Mel Fisher, and many more have called Key West home at some point.

It’s wild to think about the legacy that comes out of a small island high school—artists, athletes, writers, adventurers.

Did you know about any of these folks? Or is there a name you think should be on the list but isn’t? Hit reply and share — I love hearing people’s connections to the island history.

Until next Tuesday, stay curious, stay inspired, and always keep it Key West-y. 🌴

Cheers to legacy and island stories,
