On the road again... and Mr. Coffee is in charge! πΎππ΄

Hey Reader, Well, here we go again... We're on the road! ππ΄ This time we're heading to Orlando for another conference. Yep. Another one. Apparently I've decided that if there's something new to learn about social media, digital content, growing a business, or finding better ways to share all things Key West and the Florida Keys... I need to know about it. π And I have to tell you, I'm having so much fun learning all of this. There's always something new to try, a different way to tell a story, or an idea that makes me think, "Wait a minute... I could do THAT with Fun in Key West!" Of course, the challenge is coming home and actually putting all those ideas into action. I'm still sorting through everything I learned at the last conference! But that's half the fun, right? And this time we brought along a very important member of the travel team... Mr. Coffee! πΎ He has taken his role as navigator VERY seriously. I'm not entirely sure he knows where we're going, but he's enjoying the ride, keeping an eye on everything, and making sure we don't miss anything important along the way. I mean, look at that face. πβ€οΈ Who needs GPS when you've got Mr. Coffee? Now, whether he'll actually help us find our way around Orlando is another question entirely. π΄ So... What's Happening in Key West This October?Did you catch our live show last Thursday? We talked all about October in Key West, and there is SO much going on this month! Of course, Fantasy Fest is the big one, but that's certainly not the only reason to visit. We've got festivals, costumes, the Zombie Bike Ride, Halloween fun, and plenty of other events happening around the island. And if you missed the show, no worries! I've pulled everything together into a full October in Key West guide over on the website. Even better? You can choose how you want to catch up. π Prefer to read? The full guide is there. ποΈ Like listening while you're driving or getting things done? There's a podcast. πΊ Want to watch our conversation? The full live show is there too! One stop. Three ways to get your Key West fix. ππ΄ π ππ΄ Explore October in Key West: Events, Fun & Everything You Need to Know!β And if you're heading down this month, hit reply and let me know when you'll be there! πΊ A Little Live Show Update...Since we'll be spending this week at the conference, there won't be a Thursday night live show. I know, I know... Just when we get into a rhythm, I go wandering off again. π But this time I'll be sitting in conference sessions, taking notes, asking questions, and probably coming up with another 47 things I want to try. Don't worry, though. We've got some really fun conversations coming up! π Thursday, October 22 at 8 PM Eastern I'll be chatting with Jedwin Smith, author of our October Book Club pick, Fatal Treasure. We'll be talking about treasure hunting, Mel Fisher, the search for the Atocha, and the incredible stories behind it all. I'm really looking forward to this one! π€Ώ Thursday, October 29 at 8 PM Eastern Jamie from The Underwater Garden will be joining me! We'll be talking about what's happening beneath the surface in the Florida Keys and exploring a side of the islands that deserves a little more attention. You know I love discovering something new! Most Thursdays at 8 PM Eastern, you can find me live on the Fun in Key West Facebook page and YouTube channel. So make sure you're following along! π π±π΄ Follow Fun in Key West on Facebookβ π πΊπ Subscribe to Fun in Key West on YouTubeβ That way, when I finally stop traveling long enough to sit down and go live, you'll know about it! π Thanks to this week's newsletter sponsor... π§ Last Week's TriviaLast week I asked: π What is the name of the famous event that draws people to Mallory Square every evening? The answer was... The Sunset Celebration! π π΄ And this is one of those Key West traditions that I think perfectly captures the spirit of the island. Because let's think about this for a minute... The sun sets every single day. Everywhere. But in Key West? We turn it into a party! π And it's not just about watching the sun disappear over the horizon. Mallory Square comes alive with street performers, musicians, artists, food vendors, and all sorts of interesting characters. The festivities generally get underway about two hours before sunset, so there's plenty to enjoy before the main event. Then, as the sun gets closer to the horizon, everyone starts looking west. Boats drift by. Cameras come out. And for a few minutes, everyone is watching the same beautiful sunset. I love that. It's such a simple thing, but somehow Key West makes it feel special every single night. And if you've never been to the Sunset Celebration, put it on your list! β This Week's TriviaOkay, let's go back in time for this one... Way back to 1830! Key West was already becoming a busy little island, and one particular product was becoming important for preserving food. So here's this week's question: π§ What product did Key West begin producing in 1830 that was used for food preservation? Think you know? Hit reply with your answer and you'll get another entry into this month's Fun in Key West Swag Box drawing! ππ΄ And remember, every correct answer gives you another chance to win. Good luck! π΄ Until Next Week...Well, that's about it from the road. I'm off to fill my notebook with new ideas, hopefully learn a few things that will make Fun in Key West even better, and try to keep Mr. Coffee from taking over the entire trip. ππΎ And I really do appreciate you being along for all of this. Whether you're here for the history, the food, the books, the videos, or simply because you love Key West as much as I do, I'm so glad you're part of this little community. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a conference to attend... And apparently a very demanding navigator to supervise. Talk soon! βοΈπ Michele Chief Rooster Wrangler | Island Story Collector | Currently taking directions from a dog πΎππ΄
