🚬 One of Key West's Most Interesting Hidden Gems

Hey Reader,

It's Throwback Tuesday, and today we're taking a walk a little off the Duval Street path to one of the places I think doesn't get nearly enough attention...

The E.H. Gato Cigar Factory. 🌴🚬

Now, I know what some of you are thinking...

"But Michele, I don't even smoke cigars."

Honestly? Neither do a lot of the people who find this place fascinating.

This isn't really about cigars.

It's about the story.

A Piece of Key West History

Back in the late 1800s, Key West was one of the largest cigar manufacturing centers in the world. Thousands of workers rolled cigars here, and the industry helped shape the island we know today.

The E.H. Gato Factory was one of the major players in that story.

Walking through the neighborhood today feels a little like stepping back in time. You can still see the influence of the cigar industry in the buildings, the architecture, and the layout of the area.

And if you're someone who loves history, you'll probably find yourself wandering around much longer than you planned. πŸ˜„

One of My Favorite Things About Key West

Sometimes the best places aren't the ones at the top of every "must-see" list.

They're the places you discover because you took a different street.

You looked a little closer.

You got curious.

The E.H. Gato Factory area is one of those places for me. It's not flashy. It's not crowded. It's just an interesting piece of Key West that helps tell the island's story.

And honestly, that's one of the reasons I keep coming back.

Quick Question

When you visit Key West, what do you enjoy most?

🌴 The beaches

🍹 The food and drinks

πŸ“š The history

🎢 The live music

πŸ˜„ Or a little bit of everything?

Hit reply and let me know. I always love hearing what keeps calling people back to the island.

Until next Tuesday, stay curious, keep exploring, and always keep it Key West-y. 🌴

Cheers,
