Hey Reader, Have you ever started one little home project... And somehow it turned into SIX home projects? π That's where we are right now. We found a great deal on a gazebo for the back patio. The plan was pretty simple: finally give Kevin a little home for the grill and pizza oven. Easy, right? Nope. Before we could put up the gazebo, we decided we should probably fix the patio. So now we're pulling up pavers, leveling everything, and pouring a concrete slab. And since we're doing THAT... We might as well redo the stairs. And, of course, we'll need some new chairs. You know the drill. π My dad always called this "buying a lamp." You buy a new lamp. Then the lamp makes the furniture look old. So you buy new furniture. Then the walls need painted. Then the flooring doesn't look right... All because you bought a lamp. We bought a gazebo. π€¦ββοΈπ I did create an AI rendering of what the finished space should look like, though, and it looks AMAZING. Now we just have to make the real patio look like the imaginary one. π Fingers crossed I'll be sitting under that gazebo with a cocktail while Kevin makes pizza very soon. ππΉ What project have YOU started that unexpectedly turned into a much bigger project? I asked: What poet broke his hand in two places after punching Ernest Hemingway in the jaw? The answer was... ππ₯ Wallace Stevens! Yes. The Wallace Stevens. Poet. Pulitzer Prize winner. Insurance executive. And apparently, for one night in 1936, aspiring Key West prizefighter. π Stevens and Hemingway got into a fistfight after Stevens had reportedly made some less-than-flattering remarks about Hemingway. Eventually Stevens managed to land a punch squarely on Hemingway's jaw. Hemingway? Fine. Stevens' hand? Broken in TWO places. π³ And perhaps my favorite part of the whole story is what happened afterward. The two eventually made peace, and the story became that Stevens had injured himself by falling down the stairs. Sure, guys.
