Hey Reader, There has been a lot going on around here lately... and honestly, you're going to start seeing some fun new things coming your way. 😄 I've been working behind the scenes on a few projects, testing some new ideas, and creating things that I think you're really going to enjoy. But first... ⚓ The Wreckers of Key WestThis week we chatted all about the wreckers. These were the men who built fortunes by salvaging cargo from ships that ran aground on the reefs surrounding the Florida Keys. For a period of time, wrecking was one of the biggest industries in Key West and helped shape the island into what it became. Pretty wild to think that some of Key West's wealth was literally pulled from shipwrecks. 😲 👉 ⚓ Watch the video here And while you're over there... 👉 📺 Be sure to subscribe to the YouTube channel! The answer: 🏨 The La Concha Hotel Standing proudly on Duval Street, La Concha is the tallest building on Duval Street and the tallest building in Key West. When it opened in 1926, it was considered one of the most modern buildings in South Florida, and nearly a century later it's still one of the island's most recognizable landmarks. And let's be honest... with all the shops, restaurants, bars, and people-watching opportunities on Duval Street, most folks don't realize they're walking right past the tallest building in Key West. 😄 ❓ This Week's Trivia QuestionLet's see how deep your Key West knowledge really goes... What was Captain Tony's last name? (Hint: It's probably not as obvious as you think.) 👉 Hit reply with your answer to get entered into this month's Fun in Key West drawing! 🎁 That's it for this week.
