πŸ‡¨πŸ‡Ί You Really Can't Understand Key West Without Eating Cuban Food

Hey Reader,

It's Throwback Tuesday, and today we're talking about one of the biggest influences on Key West...

Cuban food. πŸ‡¨πŸ‡ΊπŸŒ΄

Sure, everyone talks about Key lime pie and fresh seafood. But if you leave the island without enjoying a great Cuban meal... I think you missed part of what makes Key West so special.

It's More Than Just a Great Sandwich

One of the things I love most about Key West is that every meal tells a story.

For generations, Cuban immigrants helped shape the island's culture, architecture, businesses... and, thankfully, its food. Today, that influence is everywhere, from the neighborhood cafΓ©s to family-owned restaurants that have been serving recipes passed down for decades.

So yes... order the Cuban sandwich.

But don't stop there.

Try the roast pork.

Order the black beans and rice.

Don't skip the plantains.

And absolutely treat yourself to a cafΓ© con leche before you leave.

A Few Favorites

Some of my favorite places to grab authentic Cuban flavors include:

πŸ₯ͺ El Siboney

β˜• Cuban Coffee Queen

πŸ₯– 5 Brothers

🎢 El Meson de Pepe

Each has its own personality, and honestly... I don't think you can go wrong with any of them.

My Advice?

Don't rush the meal.

Sit for a while.

Order something you've never tried before.

Talk with the people you're with.

That's the Key West experience.

Some of my favorite vacation memories started around a table with good Cuban food and absolutely nowhere I needed to be afterward.

Quick Question

What's the one Cuban dish you order every single time?

πŸ– Roast pork

β˜• CafΓ© con leche

πŸ˜„ Or did I leave your favorite off the list?

Hit reply and let me know! I always enjoy hearing what people fall in love with on their trips.

Until next Tuesday, eat well, explore often, and always keep it Key West-y. 🌴

Cheers,

Michele
